A see through fireplace located in Stowe, Vt. with a facade of ashlar corinthian granite. Ashlar refers to the shape of the stone which is generally rectangular. The stone has random lengths and heights with flat and parallel tops, bottoms and sides. Black granite slabs are used for the floor and cap of the woodbox, the mantle and the raised hearth top. The surface of the black granite slabs are thermaled; they are spalled with a flame to give them a more natural texture. A border of thicker black granite stones form the crown of the fireplace. The cast iron door is made in Finland. It has a double glass panel with an overall glass dimension 21" wide x 19" high. This is 3" wider than the 18" width of the Temp-Cast firebox and gives an illusion of a wider firebox that some customers prefer. The chimney is the same width as the woodbox and has two flues, one for the fireplace and one for the conventional oil fired boiler. The overall dimension of the fireplace and chimney excluding the raised hearth extension is 80" wide x 34".
