A custom built firebrick masonry heater core located in Bartlett, NH. The facade of used brick gives the fireplace a traditional look . The double flue chimney is to the left of the fireplace at the back of the woodbox. There is a 4" recess in the facade on the side of the fireplace and a 2" recess on the front. This design makes the overall width of the fireplace 8" wider than normal allowing the fireplace to accomodate a custom made door with a glass panel 24" wide and 24" to the top of the arch. The firebox width is the normal 18". The front inside corners of the firebox firebrick are beveled at 45 degrees providing a more pleasing transition from the width of the door opening to the width of the firebox. The small doors to the left and right below the door allow access to the downdraft channels for removal of fly ash that settles there. The larger door between them allows combustion air into the firebox. This door was common on early hand built cores but is only necessary now if the fireplace is built on a slab on grade eliminating the ash chamber incorporated in a block base that supports the fireplace when a baesment exists.
