A custom firebrick core in Jackson, NH with a facade of of Cuswha Rose molded brick. The arch keystones and mantle are soapstone, the hearth is bluestone. The chimney is separated from the heater by 16" creating the woodbox. Creating a woodbox in this way is quite cost effective as it results in simply making the connection to the chimney longer. A further benefit is that the side of the firepalce is fully exposed. This allows the stored heat to radiate more effectively into the living space. The width of the woodbox is variable, determined by the length of the connection. This design configuration allows for a variable overall width for installations where the fireplace will be used as a room divider. The door is a cast iron double panel door with retangular mounting frame and arched glass frame made by Masonry Stove Builders of Shawsville, Que.
