A corner bake-oven with a facade of Morin waterstruck brick with soapstone accents and soapstone tile hearth located in Marlborough, NH. The firebox door and bake oven door are of cast iron imported from Finland. The chimney is located in the back corner opposite the firebox. This configuration allows the most efficient use of floor space. Waterstruck brick are available with pre-molded 45 degree corners so that the brick joints are staggered and the bond maintained around the 45 degree angled corners for the fireplace. Because they are basically hand made, waterstruck brick have characteristcs similar to a traditional colonial style and are often used in restoration projects. Waterstruck brick is formed in molds which have been dampened with water giving them a smooth finish. Color variations within the brick are caused by the proximity to the heat of the kiln in which they are fired. Darker and harder brick result from being subjected to higher temperatures. A hard and dense brick allows the heat to pass through faster. This will enable the fireplace to radiate heat more rapidly and produce a higher surface temperature.
